Selena Gomez iHeartRadio Interview

Selena held an interview with the guys at iHeartRadio where she explained to them what each meant to her.

It was on October 9 that she released her latest album, and it’s safe to say it’s their best album to date and to help promote it she made stops at many radio station.

While at the iHeartRadio HQ, she said this about her album ‘Revival’.

“I just want people to feel in their own right that they should be conversations that must be performed. It’s easy to have a big hit, talk about leaving, going out, going to be fun, but this album should start conversations. It’s the best album I’ve ever done in my career, and I’ll have a hell of a time trying to cover it to the next. But I really think ‘Kill Em With Kindness’, ‘Revival’, ‘Rise’, ‘Survivors’ … These are all things I would like to encourage people to find within himself. Listen to them with her friends. Find whatever you’re feeling, and interpret for you. This is for everyone. This is not just my album. ”

Selena explained what each song is about, what inspired them and what they mean to her.

Track 1: “Revival”

“‘Revival’ is all in one song alone. All I’m feeling in recent years. And finally, what struck me is just be wanting to be heard. I grew up in front of people. I grew up in front of the world. One of my favorite quotes is: “I’ll admit it’s been painful, but I’ll be honest and grateful, ‘because, ultimately, is what led me and pushed to be where I am today. Nothing was handed to me. I had to fight for it, and actually put all of me in it. ”

Track 2: “Kill Em With Kindness”

“‘Kill Em With Kindness’ is … Everyone needs to hear. It’s kind of motto for life. It is much easier to be bad. It’s so easy just give it, but it’s so hard to get away from a situation, turn your face to the other side and be the bigger person. So that’s what ‘Kill Em With Kindness’ is. I think people need to hear it more often. ”

Track 3: “Hands To Myself”

“‘Hands To Myself’ is my favorite. In fact, it is one of the last songs we recorded for the album. It was the penultimate song I recorded, and we wrote it in one day, and it was amazing because I had this insolence. I finished everything. I thought the album was done, and then I kind of went, and I felt like I was ready for the next chapter, whatever it was, and I just knew I had this daring her. It’s really different, which is cool, and kind of has that vibe of the Prince. I really appreciate it, it’s kind of different from all the rest. ”

Track 4: “Same Old Love”

“‘Same Old Love’ is unbelievable. Charli XCX, StarGate, Benny Blanco … They are insane. It was more about how people perceive love, and how everyone has a cycle. It’s the same, whether it’s friends, family, a relationship. People are uncomfortable with change, and they are committed, and I think this song is representing the anguish and the pain, and some of the anger that it comes with, while at the same time, you have a crazy band for dancing . ”

Track 5: “Sober”

“‘Sober’ is incredible. It is easy to run away from your feelings, but I have to understand, and people need to understand, you have to go through everything. You have to feel it. You have to go to the other side as best you can, and all have been in that situation where you can not help. Even if it’s not even that, it’s like a drunk love somehow. You’re just oblivious to what’s going on, and you have to be logged in with yourself to really dissect what you are feeling. You may not need a person or need something to get you through life. You have to be content with yourself. ”

Band 6: “Good For You”

“This is a gem. Honestly, I think it was the second song I recorded for the album and it just … There was not even a beat. She was just a skeleton of a song, and ultimately that’s what I feel that women can feel. In the video, there was a shower scene, there was a scene with a white t-shirt. What I see is that women are only beautiful and be confident with themselves, saying I’m a 14 carat, and you just want to embrace that feeling. I became more comfortable with my sexuality, and who I am, and my body, and I feel very proud of it. That’s why it was that to leverage the album. ”

Track 7: “Camouflage”

“‘Camouflage’ is the only ballad on the album, because it would be foolish for me not admit it, and it’s beautiful. It’s amazing, and I want to feel that feeling when everyone becomes empty, or feel invisible when you feel like you’re someone of the whole world, and as far as this is painful, it is also beautiful, because it allows you to reach that point where you can be alone. I had to show that I was sadness too, and that was important to me. ”

Track 8: “Me & The Rhythm”

“‘Me & The Rhythm’ was the last I recorded for the album, and it’s just fun. I want people to embrace. It’s about being free in that moment be free within itself, and is not about love. It’s just about feeling at that moment and be present. Everyone is on their phones, everyone is doing it, and it’s just about you and what you are experiencing at the moment. ”

Band 9: “Survivors”

“‘Survivors’ is like my song is a hymn to the community. I feel that every day, all we’re doing is to survive. It’s what we do. We work, we get up, we do our job, we live our lives, and this world is insane. Sometimes it’s just like ‘what the hell is going on ?! “And ‘Survivors’ is just that hymn I want people to have. I want them to know that we have to be in this together. Everyone is so tired and so hurt, and does not embrace people as much as I would like them to embrace, and I think that’s important. ‘Survivors’ is a community thing … what’s mine is yours. It’s us. It is our simultaneously. ”

Track 10: “Body Heat”

“‘Body Heat’ was recorded and written in Mexico, so this actually inspired everything completely. I wanted out of my mind. We came up with ‘Revival’ in Mexico as well. I brought my producers and writers, and we just inspired. I am Mexican, and it’s amazing to be able to recognize that part of me, and it was really about how you can feel when you’re in this culture, when you are around people. We walk around and hear live music and then we got home at 05:00 and recorded “Body Heat ‘, because the live instruments, beats, what you feel … It is the type that represents everything I love about who I am. ”

Track 11: “Rise”

“I love ‘Rise’. The reason why it is the last on the album is because I want everyone to know that I feel everything they feel. I never want to be untouchable, not be related. What this song means is that you can choose to live your life in a certain way, and you can remember what are your thoughts that make you go crazy. You need to understand that it is a choice. You have to wake up and just love yourself, take care of yourself, be gentle with yourself. I think that’s what ‘Rise’ is. It’s really about encouraging people to be above all that they are facing … if it is painful. ”

Track 12: “Me & My Girls”

“Actually, my best real friends who do the background vocals. They made ’yeahs’ and then they did the last part of’ I’m going home I came up with and with whom I have come is not you. “So yeah, I really had my best real friends and a part of the music and that’s the kind of thing that I have experienced. – Being single, walking, and not worrying about any kid, just being with my girls”

Track 13: “Nobody”

“‘Nobody’ was written about my faith, my connection with God. Anyone can interpret that as you like. It’s a beautiful song, but that was my intention when I wrote the song. No human being can love you the way your higher power can, and I think it’s beautiful. You have to love yourself. You have to find it within your heart and that’s how I was able to find me. ”

Track 14: “Perfect”

“That was a very, very personal music, and was extremely accurate. I remember feeling all these emotions, and thinking to myself, ‘. I do not know if I could put it on the album’ In a way, it’s a little sad. Is too beautiful. I really like being able to go for the R & B and just flow in this world, and the track is unbelievable, but I was nervous to put it on the record for that reason. I felt that if I was giving it my all, I could recognize that part. ”
